WEBSITE

I've been trying for ages to make an online portfolio, and I always fail. But then I thought I might as well just use myspace, and I thought of putting a div overlay on top of myspace. I've made a profile, but there just isn't anything on it yet.

I guess that's a rubbish name, but I'm not bothered really.

CRAZED!

I just messed about in photoshop. This is the sort of affect I will try to get in my film for this bit, hopefully this looks like you can see the character playing the game but looking from inside of the computer screen.

COMPUTER GAMES TURN YOU SILLY

This is just some development for one of the characters in my main film. It's meant to be the main characters cousin, slightly insane from spending his life in a tiny cupboard playing one violent computer game. I think I will use the bottom one, it looks a bit more crazed. Maybe if I add some beads of sweat he would look more insane.

PAINTER

I thought that this character looked a bit plain when I redrew it in flash, so I thought I'd have a mess about in painter. I haven't actually used it much before. I suppose it's just like photoshop. I just thought to try and get some texture on this character as an experiment.

MORE SKETCHES

These are more sketches from the same book. These ones are kind of the designing of the characters I have posted a few posts down - which I had redrawn in flash. You may notice my crap attempt at coloring in using pencils, and something I always notice - things seem to look better to me when they're at the "sketchy" stage, and as soon as I redo them in flash they always seem to lose something. Maybe that's just me anyway, but I do like these sketches more than the image after I had drawn it in flash - maybe I need some texture.

SKETCHES

I figured there's been a lack of posts with more hands on work on this, so I thought I'd upload some bits from one of my sketchbooks. They're some ideas for another part of my showreel - another quote I intend to use - the one from Planet of the Apes, "Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!". I think that line is brilliant. The small guy shouts this, annoyed as the bouncer is groping him.

BEAUTY KILLED THE BEAST

This is basically just a frame from a bit of my showreel. It goes along with the quote from King Kong. I think I will add a bit more detail before I use it, maybe some smoke rising off the burnt woman. (also, I know the shot's a bit rubbish, but I intend to animate the guys moving apart as though the camera's moving past them towards the corpse)

BEAS NEAZ

Another lip sync I was messing about with. I quite like fiddling with them, probably more fun than lip syncing in flash. (thanks to chris the techy at uni for the cool voice acting)

DESIGN SUCKS

This is basically just a better version of the same video I posted further down. For some reason the colours look really desaturated on this version compared to before I made it a smaller file. And the music isn't mine, it's by Locust Toybox.

BEAUTY KILLED THE BEAST

This is just a little experiment in maya, the first time I've tried lip syncing in maya too. But I suppose it's not too hard when I got that brilliant "Boris" facial rig from a site, think its called HighEnd3D or something. The sounds a bit out of synch, but I'm sort of proud of it seen as I thought it would be impossible. I also messed about at the end, that's why its silly.

DESIGN

Again, this is more fiddling about in maya. I havn't used the text feature before so I gave it a try. I am quite obsessed in making things look like neon lights.
(also - this is quite small and hard to see, it says "DESIGN SUCKS" - thought I'd rebel, stick it to the man. You get the idea.)

MORE MAYA

This is just more messing about in maya. I was fiddling with the settings for the camera, and I also realised you could apply paint effects to the toon shader lines.

THREE-D

Maya isn't really my favorite software when it comes to animation, but I do quite like messing about and experimenting with things. A lecturer at uni was showing me a few things and I had a mess about myself. I was making stuff like this, it's nothing brilliant, but I just like it and I think its a nice sort of thing you could use in "VJ-ing". Maybe it'd be good to put in my showreel I'm producing as well.
(obviously using the PLE version of maya, with the watermarks all over the place)
also... iv noticed that when its this small you can't actually see whats going on, i.e the animated "twist"-ing

BITCH

For part of my uni work I am going to produce a showreel; and my intention is to base it on movie quotes. I think, different characters saying things, but maybe not in the same situation as the original quote was used in the film. I was just messing about in flash and did this. I still can't figure out why there's so much lag between animation and audio.

THE PUB

This is another background for my project. I'm kind of pleased with it. Maybe I should add a few more details to make it a bit more interesting.

STREET

This is another background I plan to use in my final film. Its meant to be a pan shot of a street. I think it's ok, maybe its a bit boring. I was thinking of adding a texture or something to the road, and maybe something to the top of the houses.
(also, maybe the car's the wrong size, I'll probably change that.)

IS IT BETTER? I'M NOT SURE

I messed about a bit. I think maybe this is a bit better. I just think the texture in the background was a bit crap, hopefully this is a bit less crap.
(also - for some reason the last two pictures don't open to an enlarged version when I click on them, it tries to download it instead. I might have clicked the "do exactly what you don't want" button)
